The Sahara (Arabic: الصحراء الكبرى‎, aṣ-ṣaḥrā´ al-kubra, "The Great Desert") is the world's largest hot desert. At over 9,400,000 square kilometres (3,630,000 sq mi), it covers most of Northern Africa, making it almost as large as Europe or the United States. The only larger desert in the world is Antarctica, classified as such due to very low precipitation rates. The Sahara stretches from the Red Sea, including parts of the Mediterranean coasts, to the outskirts of the Atlantic Ocean. To the south, it is delimited by the Sahel: a belt of semi-arid tropical savanna that comprises the northern region of central and western Sub-Saharan Africa.

"Great aerobic exercise, pristine scenery, a rainbow of vividly colored wildflowers (especially late June - early July). Beautiful cascades seen across the valley, the sound of wild elk and finally at the far terminus a beautiful cobalt blue lake with icebergs floating in it (I dare you to stand knee-deep for 3 min in it...your feet will be numb)." ~ Dyham

Walk Description:

gateway arch night-time wallpapers

The Gateway Arch, also known as the Gateway to the West, is part of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial in St. Louis, Missouri. It is 630 feet (192 m) wide at its base and stands 630 feet (192 m) tall, making it the tallest man-made monument in the United States, and the second tallest habitable structure in the state.
It was designed by architect Eero Saarinen and structural engineer Hannskarl Bandel in 1947. Construction started on February 12, 1963, and ended on October 28, 1965, costing $13 million ($89,638,095 today). The monument opened to the public on July 10, 1967. The Gateway Arch is an architectural marvel because it is designed as a weighted or flattened Catenary arch, which has never been attempted on such a large scale before this project.
Built as a monument to the westward expansion of the United States, the Arch has become the iconic image of St. Louis.

K2 is the second-highest mountain on Earth after Mount Everest. With a peak elevation of 8,611 metres (28,251 ft), K2 is part of the Karakoram Range, and is located on the border[2] between the Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County of Xinjiang, China, and Gilgit, in Gilgit-Baltistan of Pakistan.[3][note]
K2 is known as the Savage Mountain due to the difficulty of ascent and the 2nd highest fatality rate among the "eight thousanders" for those who climb it. For every four people who have reached the summit, one has died trying.[4] Unlike Annapurna, the mountain with the highest fatality rate, K2 has never been climbed in winter.
